I’m back! I spent a long weekend along the Northern Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful, peaceful and much cooler than the weather we have been having in South Texas! And I must mention that the seafood was to die for! It’s so wonderful to get away, but always nice to sleep in my own bed when I get home.
I have to share, I was absolutely fascinated with the flight crew on the flights home. Talk about a well-oiled machine. My first flight was a little over 3 hours long, but it was the second flight (approximately 40 minutes) that was pretty amazing. The crew had mere minutes to take drink orders, deliver drinks, deliver snacks and clean up drinks and trash. The crew never looked rushed, never looked stressed. They were able to accomplish everything that a crew can do on a 3-hour flight, but in a fraction of the time. It made me think about my own life, and my business. Could I accomplish in 30-minutes what I have been taking 3-hours to do? Today I put that to the test. I focused on one thing and one thing only (no multi-tasking). I set the timer for 30-minutes and away I went. I decided I was not going to read email, I was not going to answer the phone and I certainly was not going to surf the web. I was amazed at what I had accomplished in 30-minutes, just by giving my full attention to one thing. There are definitely times that call for our multi-tasking skills, but sometimes we just need to focus on one thing and limit our interuptions. I can’t wait to see what I am able to accomplish tomorrow.
